Ryan D. Franklin was born and raised in Chicago, IL, the youngest of five (5) children. He was brought up in a Christian home, the son of Minister David Franklin (a true example of a Godly man) and Thelma S. Franklin (who was an anointed prayer warrior). Ryan confessed and received Jesus as Lord of his life as a young child because that was all he knew to do by observing his Christian family. As he approached his pre-teens he said to himself that he will NOT serve or worship God until he had a personal encounter with God himself! Ryan began to rebel and go in the very opposite direction of Christianity. By doing this, he began to develop a double life around his family. He behaved as a Christian around his family but away from his family he rebelled doing whatever he wanted to do. One Sunday morning, when Ryan was in the seventh grade he went with his family to visit a church, at the end of service the pastor began to pray for certain people, he looked at Ryan and called him to the altar. Ryan was shocked and mad at the same time because all he was concerned with…when was church going to be over! The pastor laid his hands on Ryan and began to speak the answers to the questions from Ryan’s heart. The minister also said, God chose him and had a plan for his life. At that moment, Ryan was astonished and knew God was REAL! Ryan rededicated his life to the Lord which was his first personal encounter with God. As a teenager, Ryan began to run from the call of God on his life. Ryan started getting involved into gangs and other ungodly lifestyles. Due to Ryan’s wrong decisions regarding his life, sin produced…Ryan experienced no PEACE! Ryan felt dark, lonely inside, fearful that God was going to punish him and give up on him. In this stage of Ryan’s life, he discovered the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. When Ryan was a sophomore in high school he went to visit a church on the north side of Chicago with his parents. During this service, the Word of God broke down the wall covering Ryan's heart and he went to the altar for prayer. Ryan was instructed by the pastor to follow the minister to a room to get further instructions. As the minister of the church began to pray for those who just received salvation, he looked at Ryan…his eyes got big and whatever he saw stopped him from praying. He told Ryan, “God has something for you to do and He has a plan for your life,” that was the exact same thing the pastor told him when he was in the seventh grade! The minister went on to say, he had to pray and laid hand on him, the minister felt the anointing removing burdens and destroying yokes off of Ryan’s life...Ryan cried out with joy in the presence of God! God has consistently sent people to Ryan confirming the plan of the Lord. Several confirmed, God called him to minister, preach the gospel and God has people waiting on him. In the year of 1999, God lead Ryan to become a member of Living Word Christian Center where William (Bill) Winston is Founder and Pastor. Through Living Word, God has prepared, trained, developed the gifts and ministry within him. Ryan graduated from the School of Ministry & Missions in the year 2005. Ryan has been preaching the gospel to all mankind, sharing the experiences he overcame through the power of Christ! In June 2008, God birthed Jars of Clay Church for Ryan to pastor. Ryan’s heart is to do the will of God and his mission is to bring as many people into the salvation, knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. To teach, build, edify the body of Christ and produce Disciples of Christ.
